In Loving Memory of Martha Ann Robertson, July 27, 1953 – March 21, 2024
We’re heartbroken to bid farewell to Martha Robertson (July 27, 1953 – March 21, 2024), who left behind a legacy of love, faith, and strength. Throughout her life's journey, Martha remained steadfast in her faith, a source of strength and clarity in times of joy and adversity alike. Her unwavering belief in God served as a guiding light, inspiring all who knew her to embrace hope and perseverance.
Martha was raised by Alan and Alice Robertson in Levittown, NY and Topsfield, MA. She embarked on her academic journey at Boston University and later achieved academic excellence at Salem State College (now University), earning a 4.0 in the field of history. Her intellectual passion was matched only by her love of teaching and devotion to her faith.
For four decades Martha was a devoted member of Byfield Parish Church, where she dedicated herself to her own spiritual growth and that of her community – leading Bible studies and teaching the ancient Greek of the New Testament to eager minds within the congregation.
Martha’s nurturing spirit extended beyond the walls of the church as she embraced the roles of parent and educator. As a beloved mother of five she poured her heart and soul into supporting her household, and excelled in the crafts of needlework, cooking, braided rugs, stenciling, and many more. Many of her children’s friends deeply grieve her passing as well, professing that Martha was a “second mother” to them.
Martha was also a positive force in local education, serving as a gifted teaching assistant in the Georgetown School System and later as a special education teacher in the Triton Regional School District. Georgetown residents may also remember the productive work she engaged in while on her town’s housing authority board of directors.
Martha's spirit lives on in the hearts of those she leaves behind: her children Dawn, Larissa, Kyle, Seth, and Alan; Alan’s wife, Courtney, and their children Nora, Vivian, and a little girl on the way; her sister, Patricia; and her mother, Alice. As we mourn her passing, we also celebrate the life she lived and her impact on all of us.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Compassion International, in honor of her many decades of contribution to that cause.
